Carry The Word Worship Center History
Pastors Melvin and Mary Billingsley had a
vision from the Lord. And founded "Carry the Word Ministries" in April 1994.
The
Billingsley's vision from the Lord was a church for all people. A
non-denominational, multi-cultural Christian place of worship with emphasis on
sound Biblical teaching and preaching. The church also has a strong thrust for
evangelizing souls.
The Billingsley's team ministry concept is fresh, and brings with it
perspectives from both the male and female points of view. Their message is
delivered with simplicity and accuracy; truly a sent Word from the Lord.
Bible studies and worship service are held
in the church's renovated building at 7511 South Anthony Boulevard in the former
Ponderosa Restaurant near Southtown Mall. Due to the unconventional location,
the church appeals to people who might not respond well to an invitation to a
traditional church setting.
The ministry is active in outreach to the community. The pastors currently
minister the Word of God in the Allen County Jail facility, as well as to
residents of a low-income housing complex near the church. They look forward to
expanding a food pantry into the community soon.
Pastors Melvin and Mary Billingsley
received their training at Word of Life Metro Church in Indianapolis, Indiana,
and continued their studies at Pastor Lester Sumrall's World Harvest Bible
College in South Bend, Indiana.
Melvin and Mary celebrated 16 years of marriage in January and are proud parents
of a daughter, Melva Marie. The family invites your family to worship with them
whenever you would like to.
Their slogan is, "Carry the Word, and the Word will carry you!"
